Gavin DeGraw on 'Dancing With The Stars' elimination: 'This show gave me another perspective'
Warning: Spoilers ahead! After getting one of the lowest scores on "Dancing With The Stars" Latin Night on April 16, Gavin DeGraw and Karina Smirnoff prepared themselves to land in the bottom two and compete in the Cha-Cha "Dance Duel" to try to return for week six of the series.
Despite his best efforts however, the judges saved Jaleel White and Kym Johnson instead and sent DeGraw and Smirnoff home. However, DeGraw said he has learned a lot from his time on "Dancing With The Stars."
"This show gave me another perspective," DeGraw told OnTheRedCarpet.com's George Pennacchio after he was eliminated on April 17. "It gave me an opportunity to step outside of my element into someone else's element and realize what a big pair of shoes they actually are."
"Gavin always has an optimistic side, an optimistic approach to everything," his partner Karina Smirnoff said. "He makes every situation funnier and happier and I think that's a great attitude to have no matter what you're doing or how stressful."
So why did DeGraw struggle with Latin Night? DeGraw said, "It was a tough week. We had some travel that, of course, made it a little bit harder but no excuses.""The reality is that this is something you sign up for and you have to go at it 100 percent and there were days there we couldn't do 100 percent because there was only 30 percent left," he added. "Even if you know that there's a possibility that you won't come out on top, you always take on the challenge anyway."
