Gavin DeGraw Tweets about attack: 'I don't remember much'

Singer Gavin DeGraw wrote to fans on his official Twitter page on Tuesday about his attack in New York City late Sunday night that left him with broken nose and a cut on his face.

"Honestly, I don't remember much. I only know I can recover from here," he wrote to nearly 64,000 followers. "Thank u all for your genuine concern. I love u guys."

Police say DeGraw was beaten up three men early Sunday in the East Village. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the singer then walked for 13 blocks before being hit by a taxi. He was not seriously injured by the taxi but a witness called police. Degraw was taken to Bellevue Hospital in an ambulance. An investigation in ongoing.

"Gavin DeGraw is currently recovering and in stable condition at Bellevue Hospital where he was taken late Sunday night by ambulance after he was attacked by a group of assailants," said a statement posted on the singer's website on Monday, August 9. "He suffers from a concussion, broken nose, black eyes, cuts and bruises."

Update: DeGraw was released form the hospital on Tuesday afternoon, reports The Associated Press.

The 34-year-old singer is currently touring with Maroon 5 and Train. He canceled a planned concert Tuesday in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. A Thursday concert in Long Island, N.Y., and a Saturday show in Mansfield, Mass., have also been canceled.

DeGraw, who is from South Fallsburg, New York, is known for hits, such as "Chariot" and the "One Tree Hill" theme song "I Don't Want to Be."

His new album, "Sweeter," is set to be released September 20.
