'Game of Thrones' - 13 Best TV Shows (Spoilers)

04/04/2014 by Corinne Heller

(Part of OTRC.com's list of the 13 Best TV Shows)

3. "Game of Thrones" - HBO's fantasy-adventure drama stars the likes of Emmy winner Peter Dinklage, Lena Headey, Cersei Lannister, Emilia Clarke, Kit Harington, Sophie Turner and Jack Gleeson and shows that you can work to beat your enemies and take over the realm in style and with a wicked sense of humor.

Why we love it: The cunning brain of Tyrion Lannister (Dinklage), the malevolence of his sister Cersei Lannister (Headey) and the eye candy that is their brother (and her secret lover) Jaime Lannister (Coster-Waldau) and young warrior Jon Snow (Harington) -- who knows nothing.

There's also the amazing resilience and strength shown by little Arya (Williams), and the superbly sniveling attitude of evil teen King Joffrey Baratheon (Gleeson) that in December, earned the character a popular Twitter hashtag competition - #RoastJoffrey.

Oh, and viewers love the nudity, elaborate costumes (check out PHOTOS of the cast in and out of character), special effects (dragons!) and violence as well. Although many have yet to forgive franchise creator George R. R. Martin for the epic and shocking "Red Wedding" episode (officially titled "The Rains of Castamere") that aired in June and spurred readers of the books to post their unknowing friends' horrified reactions on YouTube (check out Martin's reaction to their reactions).

Spoiler alert! Season 3 ended in June. We're hoping to learn the fate of Arya (the cutest and possibly most ruthless child warrior in the realm), Sansa (played by Turner, who is stuck with Tyrion in a marriage neither wanted and has yet to be consummated -- also, can we talk about how creepy Littlefinger (Aidan Gillen) acts around her ... and in general, for that matter?) and tortured captive Theon Greyjoy (who doesn't have many body parts left ...). And, of course, Joffrey -- will he finally get his comeuppance?

Also, new characters are set to be introduced. Among them -- Prince Oberyn Martell, aka "The Red Viper" (Pedro Pascal), who seeks to avenge the death of his sister Grego Clegane, also known as "The Mountain," as well as Tycho Nestoris (Mark Gatiss of "Sherlock" fame). He works for the Iron Bank of Braavos, which is looking to collect debts from the Iron Throne.

When does "Game of Thrones" return? Season 4 premieres on April 6, 2014.
