'G.I. Joe: Retaliation' trailer released, film stars Bruce Willis, Dwayne Johnson and Adrianne Palicki (Video)
The trailer for "G.I. Joe: Retaliation," which stars franchise newcomers and action stars Bruce Willis and Dwayne Johnson, aka "The Rock," has been released.
The new movie is based on a popular Hasbro toy line and is set for release on June 29, 2012. It is the sequel to the 2009 film "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra" and was directed by Jon M. Chu, who also helmed movies such as "Step Up 3D" and "Justin Bieber: Never Say Never."
In "G.I. Joe: Retaliation," Willis plays General Joe Colton, the original "G.I. Joe," while Johnson portrays Roadblock, a heavy machine gunner and cook and member of the special strike team called the "ultimate freedom fighting force," which aims to defeat the terrorist group Cobra.
In the new film, the evil organization tries to take over the White House, while the "G.I. Joe" team turns to Colton for help.
Former "Friday Night Lights" actress Adrianne Palicki, who was supposed to play Wonder Woman in a television pilot before NBC shelved the project earlier this year, plays Lady Jaye, the team's covert operations specialist. Channing Tatum reprises his role as Duke, a senior "G.I. Joe" member of the force.
"The Mummy" star Arnold Vosloo returns as the villain Zartan, Byung-hun Lee is back as Storm Shadow and newcomer Ray Stevenson, who recently starred in a new film adaptation of "The Three Musketeers," plays fellow ninja baddie Firefly.
