'Footloose' trailer released, Julianne Hough and Kenny Wormald heat things up (Video)
Julianne Hough and Kenny Wormald heat things up in a new reboot of "Footloose," which is based on the 1984 the dance film that helped make Kevin Bacon a massive star.
The trailer for the new movie was recently released online and showcases dance moves that appear more complex than in the original film and more hip hop music, rather than pop. The new "Footloose" is set for release on October 14.
Both versions of the movie tell of a city kid named Ren McCormack, portrayed by Wormald, who leads a group of teenagers in a small town in the South to rebel against local rules against dancing and other so-called provocative activities. Hough, 22, plays his love interest, Ariel Moore, whose father is a minister who leads the anti-dance movement.
Wormald, a 26-year-old Boston native, starred as Tommy in the 2008 dance film 'Center Stage: Turn It Up," the sequel to a 2000 movie. He has toured with Justin Timberlake and danced in music videos by Madonna and Prince.
Hough is also a professional dancer and a former regular cast member of ABC reality show "Dancing With The Stars." She also appeared in the 2010 film "Burlesque," which stars Christina Aguilera and Cher, and in the new movie "Rock of Ages," which is based on the Broadway 1980s rock-themed musical and features Tom Cruise.
Dennis Quaid plays Moore's religious and uptight father, Rev. Shaw Moore, who was portrayed by John Lithgow in the original movie.
