Fergie, a hip hop star who is part of the hip hop group the Black Eyed Peas, was named the "2010 Woman of The Year" at Billboard magazine's Women in Music event on Thursday.

The 35-year-old, whose real name is Stacy Ferguson, attended the event with actor-husband Josh Duhamel, while her bandmates Taboo and Apl.de.ap were also present. Will.i.am, the fourth member of the group, was unable to attend the ceremony.

"Congratulations to all the women of the year," Billboard quoted Fergie as saying. "I'm so humbled to be in a category with so many strong females in the business," Fergie, who was accompanied by her husband, actor Josh Duhamel, said in excitement. "For what used to be just a boys' club, us bitches are coming up."

Others honored include Lea Michele of the FOX musical sitcom "Glee", a former Broadway actress who won the "Triple Threat" award, as well as Jazmine Sullivan, who was deemed the "2010 Rising Star".

Fergie is regarded as an international sex symbol and in 2006, she released her first and only solo album, "The Dutchess", which spurred the hit single "Fergalicious".

It was recently announced that the Black Eyed Peas, a group that spurred hits such as "My Humps" and "I Gotta Feeling" and has toured all over the world, will perform at the 2011 Super Bowl half-time show on February 6 at the Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Texas.
