Fantasia Barrino, Chaka Khan wear sparkly catsuits on 'American Idol' finale (Poll)
Former "American Idol" winner Fantasia Barrino and R&B legend Chaka Khan showcased daring, glitzy body-hugging looks on the season 11 finale of the FOX singing contest series on Wednesday, May 23.
Barrino, a 27-year-old mother of two wore a black and red sequined catsuit with thigh high cutouts as she performed with second runner-up Joshua Ledet. The two sang Elton John's "Take Me to the Pilot." Ledet introduced her as "the biggest inspiration of my life!"
Khan, 59, wore a beige, studded catsuit with a glittery bodice as she performed with the female contestants her hit song "I'm Every Woman," made famous by Whitney Houston in the 1992 film "The Bodyguard." The girls wore sparkly mini-dresses.
Barrino, a North Carolina resident who goes by her stage name Fantasia, won the third season of "American Idol" in 2004. She was a 19-year-old single mother when she auditioned for the show and her daughter, Zion, was 2 at the time. She welcomed her second child, son Xavier, in December 2011.
Months after winning "American Idol," Barrino released her debut album, "Free Yourself," which has so far sold more than 1 million copies in the United States. She won a Grammy for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance for the 2010 single "Bittersweet," which is featured on her third studio album, "Back to Me."
Barrino also began an acting career after her "American Idol" victory. She appeared in the musical "The Color Purple" on Broadway and played herself in a 2006 Lifetime television movie that is based on her memoir. In 2010, she appeared in a VH1 reality show, "Fantasia For Real."
