Eva Longoria to produce reality dating series, 'Ready for Love'
Eva Longoria might be newly single, but the actress plans to help others find love.
Longoria has signed on as executive producer for the upcoming NBC reality dating series called "Ready for Love."
"I am thrilled and excited to join Universal Television on what promises to be a wonderful and creative partnership, especially given all of the recent success at both the studio and the NBC network," Longoria said in a statement. "The collaboration between UTV and my production company, UnbeliEVAble Entertainment, on our 'Ready for Love' project has been extraordinary. Looking ahead it will be fun to find and develop unique scripted and non-scripted shows that excite television audiences."
The 37-year-old actress has contributed to the development of the reality series, which will see three men compete for a chance at true love. Longoria will work with matchmakers Amber Kelleher-Andrews, Tracy McMillan and Matt Hussey in helping the competitors. The series will be co-hosted by Bill and Giuliana Rancic.
"Having Eva Longoria on our team is a huge advantage for our Alternative program development as we have pleasantly discovered in implementing her ideas for 'Ready for Love,' which is shaping up as a terrific and upbeat series," Paul Telegdy, President, Alternative and Late Night Programming, NBC Entertainment, said in a statement on October 25. "She is passionate, fully engaged and has keen instincts for putting together a winning formula for her shows that always bear her imprint."
The competitors, Ben Patton, a businessman from Dallas, Tim Lopez a musician from Santa Barbara, Calif., and Ernesto Arguello, an entrepreneur with a social vision from Miami, will look for love on the series. Eligible women from around the country were invited to sign up for consideration through a Facebook timeline app, which allowed them to apply and connect with eligible men.
"Each week, the women who fail to make a connection with the men will be sent home," read the NBC press release. "In an intense finale, the quest for love culminates when the three men each choose their final woman and the couples must then decide if they'll get engaged, married, or simply live happily ever after."
Longoria recently parted ways with New York Jets quarterback, Mark Sanchez, whose rep confirmed the news on October 23.
Longoria, best known for playing feisty Gabrielle Solis on ABC's "Desperate Housewives," was married to Parker, a 30-year-old player for the San Antonio Spurs basketball team, for more than three years. Their divorce was finalized in January 2011. She was previously married to actor Tyler Christopher from 2002 to 2004. The actress has no children.
Longoria previously dated Penelope Cruz's 27-year-old brother Eduardo. The pair called it quits in March 2012, after dating for a year.
