Eva Longoria says she is happy "Desperate Housewives" is ending on a high note, with regard to its popularity. Longoria, 37, stars on the scandalous drama show as Gabrielle Solis, a former model with a less than steady love life. ABC is airing the series finale on Sunday, May 13, after eight seasons on the air. "Not that we're not grateful for the journey and everything, but I love the way that we are going out on top, and how ABC has dedicated us to write backwards and to kind of give us this amazing farewell," Longoria told OnTheRedCarpet.com. "As opposed to it kind of continuing on, ratings fall and then you're canceled and you have three episodes to wrap up eight years of characters and story lines - so I love that we are writing backwards - and we don't know the end." In August 2011 it was announced that the show was set to end after eight seasons. The series, which also stars Marcia Cross, Vanessa Williams, Teri Hatcher and Felicity Huffman as residents of Wisteria Lane, debuted in 2004 and was created by Marc Cherry. The actress, known for her role in films such as "Harsh Times" and "The Sentinel," explained how while she grew immensely on the show, she still hasn't reached her highest potential. "I have [learned a lot]. The funny thing is, I feel like I haven't even touched the tip of the iceberg for what my potential is," Longoria added. "As an actor, as a human being, as a philanthropist, I feel like this show has set the stage for me. If you think of everything I've been through and everything I've accomplished, it's great, but I feel like I have so much more to do." In September 2011, Longoria topped Forbes' Highest-Paid TV Actress' list, earning $13 million dollars between May 2010 and May 2011. Her "Desperate Housewives" co-stars Cross and Huffman also made the list.
