Emmys 2013: 'Nurse Jackie's Merritt Wever wins Supporting Comedy Actress
Merritt Wever has won the 2013 Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Comedy Series for her role as nurse Zoey Barkow in the Showtime show "Nurse Jackie," marking her first win and second nomination.
She beat Jane Lynch of FOX's "Glee," Anna Chlumsky of HBO's "Veep," Mayim Bialik of CBS' "The Big Bang Theory," Jane Krakowski of NBC's "30 Rock" and "Modern Family" stars Sofia Vergara and Julie Bowen -- last year's winner.
Wever is also known for her role as Elizabeth on the FOX sitcom "New Girl."
"Nurse Jackie" stars Edie Falco as the title character, a nurse at a New York City hospital. The series debuted in 2009 and had up until this year won two awards. This year, it was nominated for five.
Season 5 of "Nurse Jackie" is set to premiere in 2014.
The 2013 Emmy Awards ceremony was held at L.A. Live's Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday, September 22. The event was hosted by "How I Met Your Mother" star Neil Patrick Harris, who previously hosted the ceremony in 2009.
