Emmys 2013: Jim Parsons of 'Big Bang Theory' wins Best Comedy Actor
Jim Parsons has won his third Emmy, given for Outstanding Lead Actor In A Comedy Series for playing Sheldon Cooper on the CBS show "The Big Bang Theory," marking his fifth nomination.
The 41-year-old actor and Texas native beat nominees Matt LeBlanc of Showtime's "Episodes," Don Cheadle of Showtime's "House of Lies," Alec Baldwin of NBC's "30 Rock," Jason Bateman of Netfilx's "Arrested Development" and Louis C.K. of FX's "Louie."

Parsons has been nominated for an Emmy for his role on "The Big Bang Theory" every year since 2009 and won the award in 2010 and 2011. Season 7 of the show, one of the most popular programs in the United States, premieres on Sept. 26.
Parsons earned an MFA in Acting from the University of San Diego. He began his on-screen career more than 10 years ago. He appeared on shows such as "Wd" and "Judging Amy" before he was cast on "The Big Bang Theory."
The 2013 Emmy Awards ceremony was held at L.A. Live's Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday, Sept. 22. The event was hosted by "How I Met Your Mother" star Neil Patrick Harris, who previously hosted the ceremony in 2009.
