Emmy Awards 2010: 'Modern Family' wins Outstanding Comedy Series
Modern Family won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series on Sunday, marking the show's first win and nomination in the category.
The ABC mockumentary-style family series beat nominees Curb Your Enthusiasm, Glee, 30 Rock, Nurse Jackie and The Office.
Modern Family began in 2009 and stars Ed O'Neill of Married With Children fame and Sofia Vergara. The show returns for a second season on September 22.
The show was nominated for 14 Emmys this year and won six, including Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for Eric Stonestreet. He plays Cameron Tucker, who is part of a homosexual couple raising a Vietnamese baby girl.
Modern Family will be honored by the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN), at the Respect Awards on October 8 in Beverly Hills.
