Emmy Awards 2010: Jim Parsons wins Outstanding Lead Actor In A Comedy Series
Jim Parsons won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor In A Comedy Series on Sunday for his role as physicist Sheldon Cooper in The Big Bang Theory, marking the actor's first win and second nomination for the same part since the series began in 2007.
Parsons beat nominees Alec Baldwin of 30 Rock, Larry David of Curb Your Enthusiasm, Matthew Morrison of Glee, Tony Shalhoub of Monk and Steve Carell of The Office.
"To get to work on this character is really beyond fortunate," Parsons said in his acceptance speech.
The CBS show The Big Bang Theory also stars Johnny Galecki and Kaley Cuoco. The cast has reportedly begun to film season four, which is set to premiere on September 23.
The Big Bang Theory won one award this year and was nominated for five. It has garnered eight Emmy nominations since it began.
