Emmy Awards 2010: Archie Panjabi wins Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Drama Series
Archie Panjabi won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Drama Series on Sunday for her role as Kalinda Sharma in The Good Wife, marking the actress' first win and nomination.
Panjabi beat nominees Rose Byrne of Damages, Sharon Gless of Burn Notice, Christine Baranski of The Good Wife and Christina Hendricks and Elisabeth Moss of Mad Men.
Panjabi said in her acceptance speech that "working on The Good Wife for me is like a dream come true."
The CBS series The Good Wife premiered in 2009 and stars Julianna Margulies, who is also nominatied for an Emmy this year, as the wife of a disgraced state attorney who renews her career as a junior litigator. Panjabi plays an investigator who helps Margulies' character, Alicia Florrick. The show is set to return for a second season on September 28.
The show was nominated for nine Emmys this year.
Panjabi, a native of the United Kingdom who also lived in India as a child, had starred mainly in British shows and movies such as A Mighty Heart with Angelina Jolie as well as Bend It Like Beckham with Keira Knightley.
