Emily Maynard and Jef Holm of 'The Bachelorette' end engagement

10/16/2012 by Kristina Lopez

Emily Maynard and Jef Holm are just the latest "Bachelorette" couple to call it quits.

In individual statements released to People magazine, both Maynard and Holm confirm their engagement is over and their relationship has ended but appear to break-up on good terms.

"I am sorry to tell you that Jef and I have, indeed, parted ways," Maynard said in a statement to the magazine. "It was a very difficult and heartbreaking decision."

She later added that she has "no regrets" about deciding to do "The Bachelorette" because "I did find love and shared an incredible journey with a really special person."

"I have nothing but respect and love for Jef and his family, but ultimately we are just at different points in our lives," the 26-year-old said.

Maynard appeared on the 15th season of "The Bachelor" in 2011 and was chosen by Brad Womack. The relationship quickly fizzled and Maynard was cast as the season 8 "Bachelorette" where she met Holm, a 27-year-old entrepreneur from St. George, Utah. The final two was down to Holm and race car driver Arie Luyendyk Jr. Maynard chose Holm over Luyendyk and Holm proposed to Maynard on the show's July 22 finale.

The couple was later hounded by rumors of Maynard cheating on Holm and the two dismissed the rumors and confirmed they were still engaged in September.

Holm released his own statement about the split to People magazine saying, "Emily will always have a special place in my heart. I don't regret a single second I spent with her or Ricki. They both have been a huge part of my life. Who knows what tomorrow will bring but we are moving on to the next chapter of our lives."

"Everyone wants a salacious story to break, but the truth is we are just two people who fell in love and tried our hardest to make it work. I will always love her," he added.

Maynard has previously been engaged twice - to Brad Womack on season 15 of "The Bachelor" and to NASCAR driver Ricky Hendrick, who died in a 2004 plane crash, a week before she found out she was pregnant with their daughter Ricki, who is now 7 years old.

The couple's demise is the second break-up of a couple from "The Bachelor" franchise this month. On October 5 it was announced that Ben Flajnik, the most recent star of "The Bachelor" and the show's winner Courtney Robertson had called off their engagement.

In an strange twist, reports surfaced that Robertson had been seen kissing Maynard's runner-up contestant Luyendyk last week in Arizona.

Meanwhile, one "Bachelorette" success story was announced earlier this week with Ashley Hebert and J.P. Rosenbaum getting their own televised wedding special in December.
