Ellen DeGeneres is set to host the 2014 Oscars.
The talk show host and comedienne announced the news on Twitter on Friday, Aug. 2.
"It's official: I'm hosting the #Oscars! I'd like to thank @TheAcademy, my wife Portia and, oh dear, there goes the orchestra," she twitter.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences confirmed the news in a statement to OTRC.com.
This will mark the second such stint for DeGeneres, who hosted the 2007 Oscars. She also hosted the 2001 Emmy Awards. "Family Guy" creator Seth MacFarlane hosted the most recent Oscar ceremony in January.
"I am so excited to be hosting the Oscars for the second time. You know what they say - the third time's the charm," DeGeneres said in the Academy's statement.
"We are thrilled to have Ellen DeGeneres host the Oscars," producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron added. "As a longtime friend, we had always hoped to find a project for us to do together and nothing could be more exciting than teaming up to do the Oscars."
"There are few stars today who have Ellen's gift for comedy, with her great warmth and humanity. She is beloved everywhere and we expect that the audience at the Dolby Theatre, and in homes around the globe, will be as excited by this news as we are," they said.
The 2014 Oscars will be held on March 2, 2014 and will air live on ABC.Correction: In the Aug. 2 story above, OnTheRedCarpet.com erroneously reported the name of the 2013 Oscars host. This version of the article has been updated to reflect the correction.
