Elizabeth Hurley engaged to Australian cricketer Shane Warne
Elizabeth Hurley is engaged to Australian cricket player Shane Warne, who she has been romantically linked to since separating from Indian businessman Arun Nayar in 2010.
Hurley and her new fiancé were spotted with the actress' son Damien, 9, at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship golf tournament on Saturday. Hurley was sporting an impressive sapphire and diamond ring.
The Daily Telegraph reported that Warne proposed at the Old Course Hotel in St. Andrews, following their meal at the Road Hole Restaurant. The 42-year-old former cricketer proposed on Friday evening in front of dozens of guests.
"Shane proposed over dinner and it was fairly public -- not a private affair," a witness told the Telegraph."He didn't get down on one knee, but when it was announced, the other guests in the restaurant stood up and applauded. Everyone was absolutely delighted."
The 45-year-old actress met Warne at Britain's Goodward races in July 2010. Her divorce from Nayar was finalized in July of this year.
As previously reported, the actress is set to guest star on a multi-episode arc of "Gossip Girl." Hurley will play a media mogul named Diana Payne.
"Diana's entrance on the Upper East Side will change the lives of all our characters -- including, and especially, Gossip Girl herself," the show's executive producers Stephanie Savage and Joshua Safran said in July.
Hurley is known for her roles in movies such as "Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery" and "Bedazzled". She was cast as a villain in the NBC pilot "Wonder Woman," which was produced earlier this year but was ultimately dropped.
Hurley is set to appear in the 2012 horror movie "High Midnight" with Rachael Leigh Cook and Vincent D'Onofrio.
Hurley dated actor Hugh Grant for 13 years before splitting in May 2000. During their relationship, Grant made headlines for soliciting a prostitute in 1995.
She gave birth to her son Damian in April 2002. His father, Steve Bing denied paternity until a DNA test proved him to be the father.
The actress' divorce from Indian businessman Arun Nayar was finalized on June 15 at a London court. The two married in March 2007 at an English castle and Elton John gave the bride away. They later had a traditional Hindi wedding in India.
The British actress filed for divorce in April, citing what she called Nayar's "unreasonable behavior." He has not commented. In December 2010, Hurley wrote on her Twitter page that she and Nayar had separated several months earlier.
