'Divergent' trailer: Film stars Shailene Woodley, Kate Winslet (Video)
Feeling like you don't belong is tough and in the new film "Divergent," starring Shailene Woodley, being different can be a matter of life and death.
A new trailer for the action-adventure movie, set in a post-apocalyptic United States and based on a novel by Veronica Roth, was released on Wednesday, Nov. 13. It shows Woodley, formerly known for her role in ABC Family's "The Secret Life of the American Teenager," in character as Beatrice "Tris" Prior.
Like her peers, the teenage girl takes an aptitude test to determine which one of the factions of society, which are based on human virtues, she must enter. Her results are inconclusive and she is deemed "Divergent." She wants to join Dauntless faction, whose members' virtue is bravery, and must undergo physical initiation tests in which she faces her fears.
Kate Winslet plays Jeanine Matthews, the story's villain. She developed the aptitude test and is the leader of the Erudites, a faction whose goal is to acquire all knowledge. The British actress speaks with an American accent in "Divergent."
Ashley Judd portrays Prior's mother and Maggie Q of the CW series "Nikita" plays the administrator of the aptitude test. The movie also stars Theo James as Tobias "Four" Eaton, Prior's instructor and love interest.
