Dina Lohan pleads not guilty to drunk driving, speeding
Dina Lohan, mother of actress Lindsay Lohan, has pleaded not guilty to drunk driving charges in New York following her arrest earlier this month.
The 50-year-old entered her plea at a court in Long Island on Tuesday, Sept. 24, the Associated Press reported, adding that she arrived in a chauffeur-driven Rolls Royce and was accompanied by her mother and Lindsay's grandmother, Ann. Dina was released without bail and a judge ordered that her driver's license be suspended. She is set to appear in court again on Oct. 23.
Dina was arrested on the night of Sept. 12 after being pulled over on a highway. The incident took place months after Lindsay, 27, completed her sixth stint in rehab for drug and alcohol addiction.
Police gave Dina a ticket for speeding. She took a breath test, which revealed her blood alcohol concentration (BAC) to be 0.20 -- more than twice the legal limit. She faces charges of DWI (driving while intoxicated) and Aggravated DWI.
"Dina Lohan is painfully mindful of the gravity of her arrest for driving while intoxicated," her lawyer and Lindsay's former attorney, Mark Heller, told the Associated Press. "I am confident that the district attorney's office and the judicial system will temper justice with mercy."
