Sean "Diddy" Combs was recently named at the top of Forbes' list of the five wealthiest hip-hop stars in 2013 and he might have Ciroc to thank for that.

According to the magazine, the Bad Boy Records founder has an estimated net worth of $580 million, beating out the likes of Jay-Z, Dr. Dre and 50 Cent -- who also appear on the list. The magazine claims the majority of Diddy's wealth comes from his non-musical ventures like his deal with Diageo's Ciroc, a brand of premium vodka.

The magazine said in order to calculate their list they were "looking at past earnings, valuing current holdings, leafing through financial documents and talking to analysts, attorneys, managers, other industry players and even some of the moguls themselves."

Check out the rest of Forbes' list below:

2. Jay-Z with an estimated net worth of $475 million.

Much like Diddy, the majority of Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter's wealth is from his non-music ventures, like his $204 million deal to sell his Rocawear clothing line in 2007. In 2008, Beyonce and Blue Ivy's dad made a deal with Live Nation for $150 million. Jay-Z also has smaller stakes in the Brooklyn Nets and the team's home, the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

3. Dr. Dre with an estimated net worth of $350 million.

Andre "Dr. Dre" Young found success when he teamed up music mogul and "American Idol" mentor Jimmy Iovine to launch Beats By Dr. Dre, an audio product and equipment company likely best known for their premium headphones.

In 2011, Dr. Dre and his partners sold 51 percent of the company to HTC for $300 million but the group later bought back half of the 51 percent they sold in 2012. The company continues to be a big money maker for Dr. Dre.

4. Birdman with an estimated net worth of $150 million.

In addition to being Lil Wayne's mentor, Bryan "Birdman" Williams also has major names in hip-hop like Drake and Nicki Minaj signed under his Cash Money/Young Money record label. Like the other moguls on the list, Birdman also has non-music business deals that enable him to boost his net worth including a clothing line called YMCMB and his own vodka label called GT Vodka.

5. 50 Cent with an estimated net worth of $125 million.

Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson found success with his debut album "Get Rich or Die Tryin'" and the album enabled the rapper to spawn several branding opportunities including videogames and merchandising. Forbes notes that the rapper also profited greatly from selling his stake of Vitamin Water to Coca-Cola in 2007 and that he is trying to replicate the success with his SK Energy brand.
