'Desperate Housewives' Ricardo Chavira released after DUI arrest

Ricardo Chavira, who plays Eva Longoria's character's husband Carlos on the ABC drama series "Desperate Housewives," was arrested early on Tuesday, May 3 on suspicion of driving under the influence. The 39-year-old actor has not commented. Chavira was detained at 2:20 a.m. PT and booked at a jail in the Los Angeles suburb of Van Nuys. His bail was set at $25,000. Chavira has so far not been charged with a crime. Update at 4:55 p.m. ET: Chavira was released from custody around the early afternoon. An arraignment date was set for May 24, court records show. The actor is not required to appear in court in person and could opt to have an attorney attend on his behalf.
