Demi Lovato sought treatment following fight with dancer on Jonas Brothers tour?
Demi Lovato reportedly sought her recent treatment for emotional and physical issues following a fight with a dancer on her recent tour with the Jonas Brothers.
The 18-year-old singer checked into a medical center on Monday to get professional help but did not disclose her ailment. The Associated Press and People magazine say Lovato has struggled with eating disorders and self-cutting in the past. She was photographed several years ago with cuts on her wrist.People on Tuesday quoted a source close to the singer as saying that a fight with a dancer on tour was the catalyst for Lovato's decision to seek treatment. Lovato has not commented. Her spokesperson told reporters in a statement on Monday: "Demi Lovato left her tour early this weekend in order to seek medical treatment for emotional and physical issues she has dealt with for some time."
The singer, who has kept a low profile in recent weeks and deleted her Twitter page several days ago, has in the past spoken candidly about body issues and bullying.
A spokesperson for teensagainstbullying.org said Lovato recently wrote the following letter to bullied kids: "I actually used all of the bullying as a motivation to succeed. I think I have actually become a stronger person because of it. But I know that many kids and teens do not have all of the support and outlets I have, and that's why I want to do something about bullying. I want to make it stop."
Lovato and Joe Jonas of the Jonas Brothers, her co-stars in the Disney Channel film Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam, used to date. She has admitted she wished she had kept quiet about her relationship with him. The two met while filming the first Camp Rock film in 2007. Lovato announced in late May that they had broken up, saying they would remain friends.
