Demi Lovato leaving 'The X Factor' after season 3? (Poll)
Is Demi Lovato leaving "The X Factor"?
The 21-year-old pop singer and actress has served as a judge and mentor on the FOX singing competition series since season 2, which premiered in 2012. People and Us Weekly magazines reported on Wednesday, Dec. 18, hours before the first episode of the two-part season 3 finale is set to air, that Lovato plans to exit the show.
Lovato has not addressed the report and a FOX spokesperson declined to comment. Us Weekly said she plans to concentrate on her music career in 2014.
She is also set to embark on her first arena tour next year, starting in February in Canada. Girl groups Fifth Harmony, which placed third during season 2 of FOX's "The X Factor," and Little Mixx, which won season 8 of the original U.K. version of the show, as well as Cher Llord, who came in fourth place on season 7 of the latter series, are Lovato's opening acts.
Both versions of "The X Factor" were spearheaded by judge and former "American Idol" star Simon Cowell. The future of "The X Factor" remains uncertain. FOX has not announced whether or not "The X Factor" will receive a fourth season. However, Cowell recently said, "We'll be coming back in the U.S. next season, but my role on the show may change," according to Mashable.
There has also been no confirmation as to who will serve on the judges' panel in the future. The current stars are Cowell, Lovato, Kelly Rowland and Paulina Rubio. Cowell told Mashable that his "dream team" of judges would be his fellow past "American Idol" co-judges -- Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul, the latter of whom had served on the panel during season 1. He added: "I recently met Miley Cyrus and I really liked her. She has an opinion for sure."
