Demi Lovato debuts short hair (Photos, poll)

03/13/2013 by Corinne Heller

Pop star Demi Lovato has debuted a fun and flirty new hairstyle after months of sporting longer -- and often multicolored -- locks.

The 20-year-old singer shared two photos of her shorter, past-the-shoulder-length 'do on Twitter on Tuesday. One is a Smartphone "selfie," while another, published on Instagram, shows her in a department store wearing mouse ears, a denim jacket and a giant grin.

"Goin shopping!!!!" she said.

Lovato has changed up her look multiple times over the past few years, often returning to her brunette roots, which she did as recently as the fall of 2012 after months of sporting platinum blonde hair with parts dyed pink and blue. This is her shortest hairstyle she has showcased publicly since she rose to fame as the star of the Disney Channel series "Sonny With a Chance."

Lovato left the show in 2011 and entered a rehab center. She underwent treatment for substance abuse, eating disorders and emotional issues and made a career comeback a year later.

Among her successes -- the release of the hit single "Give Your Heart a Break" and a role on the FOX singing contest series "The X Factor" as a judge alongside co-creator Simon Cowell, Britney Spears and L.A. Reid. He and Spears are not joining Cowell on the panel for season 3, which premieres in the fall, while Lovato's participation has not been confirmed.

The singer made headlines earlier this month when she revealed in a radio interview that she found out she has a half-sister, who is in her 30s. (Find out more details about Demi Lovato's long-lost half-sister.)
