David Hasselhoff on Comedy Central roast: 'It was an honor'
David Hasselhoff says he is honored to have been roasted by his friends and professional colleagues on The Comedy Central Roast of David Hasselhoff and also gave kudos to his daughters for tolerating the jokes about him.
His daughter Taylor was the one who had filmed a now infamous 2007 viral video that sees him lying on the floor and eating a hamburger while intoxicated. Hasselhoff had suffered a relapse during his recovery from alcohol addiction.
"LoVe to Taylor and Hayley The coolest girls on earth!! Dad Loves You You handled The Roast like champs !!! With Class and pride!!! Love Dad," Hasselhoff Tweeted.
His roast aired on Sunday. Some of the people who took jabs at the actor and singer, who is particularly famous in Germany, included comedienne Lisa Lampanelli, wrestler Hulk Hogan and Hasselhoff's former Baywatch co-star Pamela Anderson.
"David, I have to say, when I saw the video of you lying on the floor - drunk, broken down, cheeseburger meat falling from your mouth - I felt so sad," Anderson, a vegan and animal rights activist said in the roast. "For that cow."
Hassellhoff said on his website he was "roasted pretty good," adding: "I took my lumps and gave a little back. But the show is a huge success, with people saying it's the best reviews in years! I was hoping that it would be a hit and that my fans would love it, and it has exceeded all my expectations. It was an honor to be roasted, and I can honestly say that there are no hard feeling, it was all in good fun."
