David Arquette says he and Courteney Cox haven't had sex in 4 months
David Arquette says following news of his and Courteney Cox's separation that the two have not had sex in four months and that she had told him she does not want to be his "mother anymore".
The 39-year-old actor made his comments to The Howard Stern Show on SIRIUS XM satellite radio. Arquette and Cox, 46, announced their "trial separation" on Monday. They married in June 1999 and have a 6-year-old daughter named Coco.
Arquette and Cox recently filmed a fourth installment of the Scream horror franchise.
"We got a trial separation a while ago," Arquette said. "Not a full-on spearation or anything but after the 11th year anniversary, she gave me a motorcycle and she said, 'I don't want to be your mother anymore.' I got it. We go to do Scream 4 and I'm feeling distance, obviously, from my wife."
"We have not have sex in quite .. by that time a month or so," he said. "Since then it's been like four months or so. We're not having sex and I completely understand. She's in a ... a place of wanting to be real and emptional, she's an emotional being. She's an amazing woman. If it doesn't feel right, she doesn't feel like bonding in that way."
Arquette says he has been going to therapy and that Cox "tries to take on everybody's problems. She tries to be the mother to everyone."
"We're still in love with each other," he said. "We're still best friends. We're not divorcing. We're figuring our lives out."
