Good news, 007 fans -- the next James Bond film is already in the works and is expected to be released within three years.
MGM Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Gary Barber announced the news in a recent conference call with investors but gave no specific date, according to the Reuters news wire. This will be the 24th film in the hit franchise and the follow-up to the 2012 movie "Skyfall," the third installment starring Daniel Craig as British super spy James Bond. MGM co-produced the film with Sony.
Daniel Craig is back for his third James Bond movie, "Skyfall," and recalls performing dangerous stunts for his role as 007, who seems to always approach "the edge of death."
Craig, 44, plays James Bond in the 23rd film in the long-running 007 franchise. The movie sees Bond's loyalty to Judi Dench's character, MI6 chief M, tested after her past comes back to haunt her. The British Secret Intelligence Service is attacked and 007 sets off to stop its perpetrator.
Naomie Harris and Berenice Marlohe will undoubtedly receive plenty attention as the new Bond girls of "Skyfall," but if the actresses are superstitious, they might have reason to worry about their sudden fame.
"I hope our resumes grow longer and longer," Harris told George Pennacchio of KABC Television, parent company of OTRC.com on November 7. "People keep asking me about this Bond girl curse and I'm like, 'What?' I hope it doesn't happen!"

Javier Bardem recalls filming his "Tango"-like first meeting scene with Daniel Craig's character in the new James Bond film "Skyfall," which sees the Spanish actor play the villain Silva.
In "Skyfall," Bond's loyalty to Judi Dench's character, MI6 chief M, tested after her past comes back to haunt her. The British Secret Intelligence Service is attacked and 007 sets off to stop its perpetrator. The movie is directed by Oscar-winning director Sam Mendes. It is the third franchise film for Craig, who played James Bond in the films "Casino Royale" and "Quantum of Solace."
Oscar-winning director Sam Mendes said he is not sure whether he could direct another James Bond film, after already doing everything he wanted to do with "Skyfall."
"I put everything I ever wanted to put in a bond movie into this movie and I really mean, you know, everything," Mendes told George Pennacchio of KABC Television, parent company of OTRC.com on November 7. "Even as a 12 year old, I fantasized, 'I want to make a movie with the Aston Martin DB5 in it' and there it is, you know? So I would have to feel I could do the same again. And that's a big task."
Daniel Craig says that he's in even better shape now than he was in his first Bond film, "Casino Royale," where he famously showed off his physique in skimpy baby blue swim trunks.
"Yes, I am [in better shape than I was in my first Bond film]," Craig told George Pennacchio of KABC Television, parent company of OTRC.com on November 7. "I don't know how I'm going to maintain that for the next two, but I'll try!"
