'Dancing With The Stars' 2013 pre-finale Recap: Week 11

11/25/2013 by Cari Skillman

The couples Waltz into the ballroom for part one of a dance-filled two night finale on "Dancing with the Stars." All four couples dance three times tonight.

In the first round, they are assigned a "Judges' Pick" and repeat a routine from earlier in the season. In round two, they're challenged to a "Samba relay" that can earn a few bonus points. And in the last round, the always fun and fabulous freestyle!

Update: Find out who WON season 17 here.

(Find out who was ELIMINATED on Monday here.)

Here's a recap from highest total scores to lowest:

Amber Riley and Derek Hough -- "Judges' Pick" Charleston - 30 out of 30 / Samba relay - 4 out of 5 / Freestyle - 30 out of 30 = 64 total points.

The judges wanted Amber and Derek Hough to go back to week three and the Charleston. Carrie Ann Inaba thought it could have been sharper and more balanced. Carrie Ann went to their rehearsal to give more specifics about what they are really looking for with this dance.

It apparently worked: Carrie Ann upped her score to a "10". And she wasn't the only one. Both Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli rode the"10" wagon for this dance too.

Amber and Derek's final dance is what this Freestyle round is all about: High energy, plenty of fun, clever character and nothing but talent. They get to utilize one of Amber's hidden talents, too. She's a stepper!

It was fun to see her actually teaching Derek something he didn't know. They recruit Mark Ballas and some other pros to dance back up, but all eyes are on Amber and she receives a very much deserved perfect score.

Corbin Bleu and Karina Smirnoff -- "Judges' Pick" Quickstep - 27 out of 30 / Samba relay - 5 out of 5 / Freestyle - 30 out of 30 = 62 total points.

Corbin's "redo" dance was the Quickstep, a dance that Len didn't particularly care for the first time around. Goodman stopped by rehearsal to give Corbin and Karina Smirnoff a few things to think about for their routine.

At performance time, Len told him he saw improvement and gave a score of "9," which was a point higher than the previous time. Carrie Ann and Bruno agreed with the "9."

Corbin and Karina head to Las Vegas to perfect their tribute to Michael Jackson for the Freestyle round. They do some crazy thing where they literally bounce off the floor, and toss in some big, well, tosses that has Karina flying through the air; but basically it's about Corbin's ability to channel MJ. Carrie Ann said the dance made her miss Michael and all three judges agreed they nailed it. Perfect score!

Jack Osbourne and Cheryl Burke -- "Judges' Pick" Jive - 24 out of 30 / Samba relay - 3 out of 5 / Freestyle - 30 out of 30 = 57 total points.

Jack struggled with the fast moving Jive the first time around but the judges think he's learned enough to attack it a second time. Jack does not appear thrilled for the do-over on this one! But he's going for it and says he'll "swing for the stands." Bruno stops by and points out that Jack needs to work on his "kicks and flicks." He does. And they're much better for performance. Unfortunately he and Cheryl Burke fell out of sync for much of the dance.

The couple had their work cut out for them with the Freestyle have the stumble during the Jive. Cheryl had a fabulous idea to chronicle Jack's journey through the season; they re-visited many of the dances they've done over the past three months.

Of course, Jack's WAY better than when he started and Cheryl's choreography highlighted his strengths. This is the kind of freestyle that will be remembered! Perfect score!

Bill Engvall and Emma Slater -- "Judges' Pick" Viennese Waltz - 24 out of 30 / Samba relay - 2 out of 5 / Freestyle - 25 out of 30 = 51 total points.

Bill's first attempt at the Viennese Waltz earned him a 24 and was his highest scoring routine. The judges thought he could do even better though and ask for them to do it again.

Bill adorably calls Emma Slater his fake daughter and at one point in rehearsal she breaks down in tears because it's hitting her that this will all be over soon. Len pays them a visit to offer some tips. Their dance is improved in some areas; and falls back in others. They earn the same score they did originally.

Bill's Freestyle emphasizes his personality and ability to create a character: He channels Indiana Jones. Emma wants to throw in some tricks and flips but they make Bill very nervous; he doesn't want to hurt Emma. They have fun playing off the original movie and change the Holy Grail to the Mirror Ball Trophy.

Once again the judges are completely charmed by Bill's entertainment value and Len offers the one thing Bill and Emma have wanted all season: a "9." Oh, and Bill takes his shirt off. Take that Derek. And Corbin. And Maks. And Val.
