Courtney Love sued for defamation on Twitter again
Courtney Love is being sued again for defamatory remarks she made on Twitter, this time by the lawyers who represented her in an effort to pursue money allegedly stolen from the estate of her late husband, Kurt Cobain.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the San Diego-based law firm Gordon & Holmes claims that Love lashed out after Rhonda Holmes, a partner at the firm asked Love to refrain from "any and all substance abuse" during the attorney-client relationship.
Love fired Gordon & Holmes but returned several months later, asking them to represent her again. When the law firm refused, Love took to her Twitter account.
"I was (expletive) devastated when Rhonda J Holmes Esq of San Diego was bought off," Love was said to have written on Twitter.
The Hole front woman also said in a 2010 interview that she had been "hiring and firing lawyers" and claimed that the female attorney had "disappeared" and stopped taking her calls after "they got to her."
Love had no immediate comment on the report.
In March, Love settled her first Twitter lawsuit for $430,000 after calling fashion designer Dawn Simorangkir a "nasty lying hose bag thief," among other things on the micro-blogging site.
"I am glad to have this behind us. I have always considered Dawn to be a talented designer. I am sorry for what happened. I sincerely wish her the best," Love said in a March statement.
Love had purchased some custom clothing items from the designer before lashing out against her on Twitter and MySpace. Dawn Simorangkir sued the Hole front woman in 2009 for defamation.
In August, Love was sued by a management firm for $1 million after selling a portion of Cobain's band Nirvana's catalog for $20 million. Cobain commit suicide in Seattle on April 8, 1994 at the age of 27. Nirvana is known for hits such as "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and "Come As You Are."
Love and Kurt Cobain's only child, daughter Frances Bean Cobain, have a strained relationship after Love lost custody in 2009 and took to Twitter to accuse Frances of 'destroying' her. The teenager may inherit millions from a fund set up shortly after her father's death, when she was just 20 months old.
Despite the success of Nirvana and Love's band Hole, the singer has had a long history of debt and drug abuse.
Since Cobain's death, Love has had relationships with actor Edward Norton, who she met on the set of their movie "The People vs. Larry Flynt," British comedian Steve Coogan and NIN's Trent Reznor, who won a 2010 Oscar for his soundtrack for "The Social Network."
Love left Twitter in October 2010, after accidentally posting nude photos of herself that were supposedly meant for her boyfriend. Her Twitter feed had previously overflowed with Love's often incomprehensible rants.
