Courtney Love evicted from New York City home, report says

12/16/2011 by Olivia Allin

Courtney Love has reportedly been evicted from her New York City home after falling $55,000 behind in rental payments.

According to the New York Post, the singer was also accused of painting and wallpapering the home without the owner's permission, after accidentally starting a fire.

The $8 million home cost Love $27,000 a month to rent and owner Donna Lyon claimed that the singer caused more than $100,000 worth of damage since moving in 10 months ago.

The townhouse was recently featured in a photo gallery on the entertainment website xoJane, which shows some of Love's redecorating.

The four-story home in Manhattan's West Village was built in 1827 and as part of the rental agreement, Love agreed to not alter the interior, which was decorated by its previous owner, famed interior designer Steven Gambrel and several walls were hand-painted.

"Courtney has wallpapered and painted a large portion of the property without my consent," Lyons told the New York Post. "I learned about this when I wanted to sell the house and had photographs taken. They sent me the brochure and I said, 'This can't be my property.' I came to New York to see it and was horrified by what had been done. The walls that had been hand painted and glazed were ruined, covered in damask wallpaper and ice blue paint."

In June, Love burnt her hands after a candle set a curtain on fire in the home's master bedroom. Lyons recalled, "I got a call from her accountant, who said, 'Miss Love is fine,' which I was glad to hear, but I thought, 'What about the house?'"

Love has made headlines in recent years for her strained relationship with daughter Frances Bean Cobain, her only child with late husband Kurt Cobain. The rocker lost custody in 2009 and took to Twitter to accuse Frances of 'destroying' her. The teenager reportedly inherited millions from a fund set up shortly after her father's death, when she was just 22 months old.

Courtney Love is reportedly penning an autobiography which is expected to include details about her strained relationship with her daughter. The Hole front woman also opened up to Vanity Fair magazine in their November issue and said if Kurt Cobain came back to life, she would kill him.

"Mad? Ya think?! If he came back right now I'd have to kill him, for what he did to us. I'd [expletive] kill him. I'd [expletive] him, and then I'd kill him," the 47-year-old singer told the magazine.

Love and Kurt Cobain got married on February 24, 1992 in Hawaii after dating for a year. The late Nirvana front man was wearing pajama pants at his wedding ceremony. Frances Bean was born later that year on August 18, 1992.

Meanwhile, in 2010 Love was sued by a management firm for $1 million after selling a portion of Cobain's band Nirvana's catalog for $20 million. Cobain commit suicide in Seattle on April 8, 1994 at the age of 27. Nirvana is known for hits such as "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and "Come As You Are."

September 24, 2011 marked the twenty year anniversary of Nirvana's second album, "Nevermind," which has sold over 30 million copies worldwide and was certified Diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America.
