Courteney Cox files divorce papers, wants to drop Arquette from her name
Courteney Cox has filed her divorce papers and the actress is seeking to legally drop Arquette from her name.
The 47-year-old actress filed her divorce documents on June 8, the same day as her estranged husband. Records show both actors filed their paperwork within a minute of each other Friday, according to the Associated Press.
Cox also cites irreconcilable differences as the reason for the end of their 12-year marriage, the same reason Arquette used in his filing. Both actors are also seeking joint custody of their 8-year-old daughter Coco.
Arquette and Cox are representing themselves in the proceedings, the wire service reports. The former couple wed on June 12, 1999. They met Cox on the set of the 1996 horror film "Scream." They also co-starred in its sequels, including the 2011 film "Scream 4."
After they separated, Arquette and Cox promoted the film together (see photo, above) and vacationed with their daughter. They also discussed their relationship and love lives on Howard Stern's X-rated and uncensored Sirius XM satellite radio show.
The actor also guest starred on Cox's sitcom "Cougar Town" during its recent third season. The show's fourth installment will air on the cable channel TBS.
The actor, whose grandfather was a survivor of the Nazi Holocaust, is currently visiting Israel and has been exploring his Jewish heritage. On Monday, Arquette celebrated a bar mitzvah at a Jewish holy site in the Israeli capital of Jerusalem while filming a new Travel Channel series.
