Courteney Cox and David Arquette split, say they are on 'trial separation'

Courteney Cox and husband David Arquette say they have separated after more than 10 years of marriage.

Cox, the 46-year-old star of Cougar Town and Friends, and Arquette, 39, met in 1996 while filming the movie Scream and are currently working on a fourth installment of the horror franchise. They married in June 1999 and have a 6-year-old daughter named Coco.

"We have agreed to a trial separation that dates back for some time," the pair said in a press statement. "The reason for this separation is to better understand ourselves and the qualities we need in a partner and for our marriage. We remain best friends and responsible parents to our daughter and we still love each other deeply."

"As we go through this process we are determined to use kindness and understanding to get through this together," the statement said. "We are comfortable with the boundaries that we have established for each other during this separation and we hope that our friends, family, fans and the media also show us respect,dignity, understanding and love at this time as well."
