'Country Strong's Gwyneth Paltrow inspired by Beyonce
Gwyneth Paltrow says she was inspired by Beyonce and Faith Hill while preparing to play country singer Kelly Canter in "Country Strong".
In the film, set for release on Jan. 7, 2011, the 38-year-old Oscar-winning actress provides her own vocals. The movie sees Canter looking for a comeback and also stars Hill's husband, fellow country singer Tim McGraw, as Canter's husband and manager. Meester, a "Gossip Girl" actress who has also released music, plays a former beauty queen.
"Beyonce and Faith Hill were really the two women that I picked their brains and analyzed," Paltrow told OnTheRedCarpet.com. "I watched all their DVDs. Beyonce was touring at the time so I got to see her twice when I knew I was making the movie. "
Paltrow performed the title track of "Country Strong" at the 2010 CMA Awards earlier this year.
Paltrow is also known for movies such as "Shakespeare in Love" and "Se7en" and received a star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame earlier this month. Tim McGraw, who stars with Paltrow in "Country Strong" and Hill, his wife, attended the ceremony, as Matthew Morrison of "Glee", the FOX musical sitcom that featured Paltrow as a substitute teacher.
Paltrow says she is set to return to the show to reprise her role as free-spirited Holly Holiday.
