'Cougar Town' missing from ABC midseason schedule, but will return
ABC debuted its 2012 midseason schedule on Friday and Courteney Cox's "Cougar Town" was conspicuously missing from the lineup.
However, an ABC spokesperson told OnTheRedCarpet.com on Friday, "We haven't announced its return yet but you'll definitely see it next year."
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the network is planning to cut down "Cougar Town"'s upcoming third season from 22 to 15 episodes.
A source close to the matter confirmed to OnTheRedCarpet.com that a full 22-episode order was not needed given the show's later premiere date, which has not yet been announced.
ABC had previously planned to premiere the comedy series' third season on April 18, after Matthew Perry's series "Mr. Sunshine" finishes its run.
"Cougar Town" stars Courteney Cox as a wine-loving Florida real estate agent and follows her relationship with her neighbors, son, ex-husband and co-workers.
The series, which was created by Bill Lawrence and Kevin Biegel, debuted in 2009 and has battled several scheduling jumps, but sources told the Hollywood Reporter that ABC still "very much believes in 'Cougar Town.'"
