Cory Monteith cause of death under investigation, 'Glee' cast react
Here is the latest update about "Glee" star Cory Monteith, who was found dead at age 31 in a hotel room in his native Canada over the weekend:
Canadian authorities are conducting an investigation and an autopsy is planned, ABC News reported on Monday, July 15, two days after he was found dead. They believe he may have died of a drug overdose. Foul play is not suspected. Investigators plan to talk to Monteith's friends to try to figure out what he was doing during his final hours.
Results of the autopsy and toxicology report won't be made available for several days, the British Columbia Coroner's Office said in a statement obtained by OTRC.com.
The actor had spoken to the press about his past battles with substance abuse and he had voluntary undergone treatment at a rehab center this past spring. The subject of his addiction was not revealed.
Meanwhile, his girlfriend and co-star Lea Michelle is requesting privacy and has not commented about his death. Fellow "Glee" star Matthew Morrison, who plays the glee club's director, dedicated his small concert in New York on Sunday to Monteith, telling the audience: "We'll do it in Cory's honor," according to the New York Times.
Other "Glee" actors have expressed their shock on Twitter.
