Constantine Maroulis of 'American Idol' welcomes baby girl
Constantine Maroulis of "American Idol" is now a father, as his girlfriend Angel Reed gave birth to their first child - a baby girl named Malena James on Thursday.
The two met last year when they starred in the Broadway musical "Rock of Ages," which earned Maroulis a Tony nomination. The show incorporates popular hits from bands such as Journey, Whitesnake and Damn Yankees. Maroulis is is currently playing his role as rocker Drew on a "Rock of Ages" national tour.
"This is the greatest Christmas present I've ever received," Marouilis, 35, said in a message posted on the "Rock of Ages" Facebook page on Friday. "Of course I really like the dancing wrapping paper it came in too. Angel and I are thrilled to welcome our perfect baby girl into the world today. Mom and baby are healthy and I couldn't be more excited to ring in 2011 this way."
An official message from "Rock of Ages" Facebook page added: "The ROA family wants to welcome its newest addition - Constantine and Angel's lil rockstar Malena James arrived 12/23 at 11:06p, 6 pounds and 11 ounces, 19 inches!" Reed who was a chorus singer and dancer on "Rock of Ages", reportedly quit the show in June, after becoming pregnant.
Maroulis came in sixth on the fourth season of "American Idol" in 2005, which was won by Carrie Underwood, who is now a Grammy-winning country singer.
The "Rock of Ages" Broadway cast recently included Dee Snider of the glam metal band Twisted Sister. MiG Ayesa of the CBS singing contest show "Rock Star: INXS" appears with Maroulis on the U.S. tour.
