Claire Danes talks 'Homeland' crying face in Glamour Magazine
Claire Danes is well aware of her "Homeland" character Carrie Mathison's infamous "crying face," and she's not concerned about it either.
The actress spoke about various "Claire Danes Cry Face" memes that poke fun at her on the Internet, telling Glamour magazine in their January issue that she isn't fazed by the comments.
"Well, it is true, she gets emotional a lot," Danes told Glamour magazine. "There is that. But I actually think feelings are really hard for people. I think people are made uncomfortable by uncensored expressions of emotion."
"But, you know, that's my job," she continued. "I don't have those fears. I really have never been concerned about being beautiful onscreen. That's just not my jam. I'm concerned about it if I'm playing a beautiful character. But it's not relevant for Carrie."
Danes has portrayed Carrie Mathison on Showtime's "Homeland" since 2011. The role has earned Danes numerous acclaim and awards since it began, recently taking home the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series in September.
Actress Anne Hathaway poked fun at Carrie Mathison's crying face during a skit on "Saturday Night Live" in November 2012.
The actress is also a mom to a son named Cyrus Michael Christopher Dancy with husband, actor Hugh Dancy. She further affirms has attitude about her looks on-screen, telling Glamour magazine she does not need to worry about being completely put together for the show.
"I don't need to worry about [beauty], and I think that's really great," Danes said. "I love sitting in the makeup trailer and getting my makeup done in 15 minutes as opposed to an hour and a half."
"Homeland's" third season is currently airing on "Showtime," with its season finale scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 15 (check local listings).
