"The Voice" features Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine, Blake Shelton and Cee Lo Green as coaches to contestants. The series is hosted by Carson Daly and features the four coaches working through the various phases of the competition with only the most talented vocalists. The winner of the first season was Javier Colon, who was coached by Levine.

Mark Burnett, the producer who revolutionized reality television with "Survivor" and "The Apprentice" based the show's format off of "The Voice of Holland," which is the most-watched talent show in Dutch TV history, beating out the Dutch versions of "American Idol" and "The X Factor."
