Christina Applegate says feeling baby kicking is best part of pregnancy
Christina Applegate, who is expecting her first child with fiance Martyn Lenoble, says the greatest joy of her pregnancy is "feeling kicks for the first time."
The 38-year-old actress made her comments to George Pennacchio of KABC Television, OnTheRedCarpet.com's parent company, at the recent Los Angeles premiere for the new Drew Barrymore R-rated romantic comedy Going the Distance.
Applegate said that when she's not working, she's usually sleeping, adding: "I'm so boring. I eat and I sleep. That's all I do. It's an exhausting process and it's wonderful and it's magical and all of these things but it really takes you down. I get up in the morning and figure out which room I'm going to go and take naps in."Applegate, a breast cancer survivor, is known for her parts in the comedies Married with Children and Samantha Who?. She also recently voiced a character in the film Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore.
Applegate's pregnancy was announced in July. She and Lenoble, a 41-year-old Dutch musician and founding member of rock group Porno For Pyros, said in April they had become engaged on Valentine's Day. The couple, which dated for at least two years beforehand, has not set a date for their wedding and Applegate has remained mum on her due date.
Lenoble accompanied her at the Going the Distance premiere and Applegate said he was comfortable on the red carpet.
"We've got this thing going on and we're a unit," she said. "It's the three of us now."
Going the Distance tells of a couple in a long-distance relationship and stars Barrymore and her on-again, off-again boyfriend Justin Long in the main roles. Applegate plays her older sister with a "naughty mouth" who "has to be a voice of reason". The movie opens on September 3 in the United States.
Barrymore, 35, said the intention of the film, which is rated R for sexual language, some drug use and brief nudity, was to "give a romantic comedy that's more real and more adult and not sort of based on necessarily a fairy tale setting, even though I love those movies."
