Christina Aguilera unleashes expletive-filled rant about tabloids, talks acting
Christina Aguilera decided not to hold anything back at the Billboard/Hollywood Reporter Film & TV Conference on October 25.
The singer and "The Voice" mentor unleashed an expletive-filled rant about tabloids and internet haters at the event and said she would like to play a crack addict in her next role.
"Now everyone is a critic," Aguilera said of the tabloids and bloggers, according to the Hollywood Reporter. "I don't read blogs. It's just God-knows-who in [expletive] wherever writing hate [expletive]. You can't take it seriously. I'm sure you've all been hated on at some point by [expletive] people... It's real talk today."
In the interview, Aguilera reflected back at her career and credited her appearance on "Star Search" at age 7 and being cast in "The Mickey Mouse Club" at age 12 for launching her career.
She also talked about her song "Beautiful," which was written by 4 Non Blondes singer/songwriter Linda Perry. Aguilera remembered that Perry urged her to refrain from doing any of that showy "Mariah Carey [expletive]," which the singer admitted she enjoys doing.
While Aguilera is gearing up to release her seventh studio album, "Lotus," she also expressed interest in doing more acting, after making her starring role debut in the 2010 film, "Burlesque."
"I do want to do more acting," Aguilera said, according to E! News. "I want to do something where I can really sink my teeth into something a little more challenging. Really outside of myself, outside of music... I want it to be honest and genuine in expanding my wings and doing something really, really different. A crack head on the street or a drug addict. Or something crazy and meaty and juicy. Something that really took me out of myself."
Aguilera is gearing up to perform songs from her upcoming album "Lotus" at the American Music Awards ceremony, which takes place five days after its release, on November 18 (check out more details and a full list of AMA nominees)
The singer released the first single from the record, "Your Body," in September. The music video shows Aguilera rocking a lot of pink wigs, leopard print, corsets and micro-mini skirts, while meeting and murdering a slew of handsome male companions.
Aguilera's last album, a 2010 dance and electronic album titled "Bionic," sold just 310,000 units and was her first album to not reach platinum status.
Since then, Aguilera has gone through a divorce, found new love and came back into the public eye on "The Voice." It was announced on September 17 that Aguilera and Green would be taking time off from the reality series in its upcoming fourth season in 2013, during which she plans to tour to promote her new record. Shakira and Usher will take the pair's spots, alongside Adam Levine and Blake Shelton. The third season of the reality singing competition premiered on September 10.
"It's hard being such a powerful woman in the business. I'm known for not always being, kind of," Aguilera said at the conference. "I learned early on you can't always be warm and fuzzy because you'll be bulldozed right over."
