01/24/2011 by Kristina Lopez

Christina Aguilera has been chosen to sing at the national anthem at the Super Bowl in Texas on Feb. 6, according the National Football League's official blog.

This isn't Aguilera's first performance at the event. The Grammy award-winning singer was part of the halftime show during the 2000 Super Bowl in Atlanta.

"I have been performing the Anthem since I was seven years old and I must say the Super Bowl is a dream come true," Aguilera said in statement posted on the blog. "I am really excited to be part of such an iconic event.

Other stars who have tried to tackle the complicated anthem at the Super Bowl include Carrie Underwood, Billy Joel, Diana Ross, Neil Diamond, Mariah Carey and Beyonce Knowles.

It was previously announced halftime show will feature The Black Eyed Peas, marking the first time a non-rock act has performed on the biggest stage on television in seven years.

Previous performers at the half-time show of the NFL championship game include the Rolling Stones, U2, Bruce Springsteen and the Who, which played during the 2010 Super Bowl and whose hit song "My Generation" was remixed by Black Eyed Peas singer will.i.am for an ad to promote the event.
