Chris Klein joins 'American Reunion,' aka 'American Pie 4'
Chris Klein is the latest "American Pie" actor to sign on to star in the new sequel, "American Reunion."
The 32-year-old actor played Chris "Oz" Ostreicher in the first two films in the hit R-rated comedy franchise, which debuted in 1999. Klein is "very excited to reunite with the original cast," People magazine quoted his spokesperson as saying.
Filming is set to begin on May 24, the magazine reported. Alyson Hannigan's spokesperson confirmed earlier this month that the actress is set to reprise her role as naughty flute player Michelle in "American Reunion." Jason Biggs will once again play main character Jim Levenstein, her on-screen husband.
Returning cast members Seann William Scott, who plays Levenstein's abrasive friend Steve Stifler, and Eugene Levy, who portrayed Levenstein's father, have also been cast in the latest "American Pie" sequel, which is set to hit theaters in January 2012 and tells of Jim and Michelle Levenstein's life as a married couple with a child.
Tara Reid confirmed in February that she planned on joining the cast of "American Pie 4," which was its working title.Klein rose to fame as jock Paul Metzler ("You Betzler!") in the 1999 movie 'Election' alongside Reese Witherspoon. After 'American Pie 2' was released in 2001, Klein went on to star in the 2002 Mel Gibson movie 'We Were Soldiers' and appeared in the short-lived series 'Welcome to the Captain' in 2008.
Klein is set to appear in the 2011 movie 'Sam' with 'My Girl' actress Anna Chlumsky as well as on the new FX comedy series "Wilfred," which stars Elijah Wood and tells of a man who interacts with a dog but sees the animal as a man wearing a dog costume.
Filming on "Wilfred" began on March 16, an FX spokesperson told OnTheRedCarpet.com. Klein plays the love interest of Wood's character's neighbor, Jenna, who owns Wilfred the dog.
