Chris Hemsworth suits up once again in "Thor: The Dark World" and the action star went through a few costumes during the film due to the intense fight scenes.

Hemsworth reprises his role as Thor, the god of thunder, in the sequel to "Thor," the 2011 blockbuster film. "Thor: The Dark World" also sees Natalie Portman return as Jane, Thor's love interest, Anthony Hopkins as Thor's father, Odin, and Tom Hiddleston as his evil brother, Loki.

In the new film, Thor must again try to save Earth, this time from an evil, ancient race of Dark Elves led by the vengeful Malekith, played by Christopher Eccleston.

"The thing is, you get ratcheted into walls and things and we design the suit and go, 'Oh yeah, looks beautiful, nice,' and you go, 'OK, what's it like in a fight scene?' And it's like, 'I dunno, it'll be fine,'" Hemsworth told Rachel Smith, host of TV show "On The Red Carpet" and OTRC.com, recently about his costume troubles.

"We went through a few suits because of the amount of sort of physical movement in them, which I dunno what would've survived that kind of battering," he added. "It was rather painful at times."

Hemsworth also told Smith the film has a solid balance between action heavy scenes, humor and drama.

"It was gritty. It was a battle-torn, worn look to the film, which I really liked and there was a whole lot of drama and tragedy but we kept the humor in there and then the action ramped up, so it was a nice balance, I think," he said.

"Thor: The Dark World" hits theaters on Nov. 8. Check out a trailer for the film below.

Reporting by Rachel Smith, host of the nationally syndicated entertainment show "On The Red Carpet" (check for local TV listings). The series is produced by KABC Television near Los Angeles.
