"Glee" fans will be pleased to find out that Darren Criss (Blaine) and Harry Shum Jr. (Mike) have been upgraded to series regulars on the hit FOX musical series, but Chord Overstreet wasn't so lucky.

The actor, who plays McKinley transfer student Sam Evans, was not picked up as a series regular, Deadline reports.

On Friday, the actor wrote the vague Twitter message, "well it's been a good yr too bad it's over, time for summer and starting fresh."

Overstreet could return to the show as a guest star and comforted fans on Twitter by revealing that he would definitely make a solo album.

The actor, who's been spotted with actress Emma Roberts and was once romantically linked to Taylor Swift, recently denied he is dating every girl he gets photographed with.

"Glee" creator and executive producer Ryan Murphy recently went on Ryan Seacrest's KIIS FM radio show and said that he's gearing up the show's third season, which will include the graduation of the original cast members.

Murphy said that the show will be able to continue successfully without the graduating characters because, "We've got Matt Morrison and Jane Lynch who will stay and be the male and female lynchpins of the series."

Murphy also cited new cast members Overstreet andCriss as examples of how new people can be added into the fold of the show. "So, I think every year, what will be fun about the show is a new class comes in," he said.

Murphy also told TVLine of his decision, "Do we really want to have an eight-year [high school] senior? The only way somebody could stay on the show is if they flunk, and that is always a possibility. I think Brittany is pulling straight Fs."

"Glee" will also get new blood from whichever contestant wins the reality series "The Glee Project," which Murphy also appears in as a judge. The winner of the reality series nabs a seven-episode arc on "Glee," a recording contract and will get to go on the "Glee" tour next year with the cast.

Meanwhile, the current cast of "Glee" recently wrapped up the 16-city North American leg of their tour, which kicked off on May 21 in Las Vegas and is finishing the tour in Europe. The "Glee Live! In Concert" tour included cast members Lea Michele, Cory Monteith, Amber Riley, Chris Colfer, Kevin McHale, Jenna Ushkowitz, Mark Salling, Dianna Agron, Naya Rivera, Heather Morris, Harry Shum Jr., Chord Overstreet and Darren Criss.
