Chaz Bono's mother Cher still calls him a 'girl' by mistake

Cher says still sometimes mistakenly refers to her child Chaz Bono, who underwent a sex change operation to become a man last year, as a woman.

A judge granted Chaz Bono's request to change his gender and name from Chastity to Chaz in May. The 41-year-old's father is Sonny Bono, Cher's late ex-husband. The two singers released the hit 1965 single "I Got You Babe".

"She's a very smart girl-boy!" Cher, 64, told Vanity Fair magazine, when asked about Chaz Bono. "This is where I get into trouble. I still don't remember to call her 'him.'"

"If I woke up tomorrow in a guy's body, I would just kick and scream and cry and (expletive) rob a bank, because I cannot see myself as anything but who I am-a girl," Cher said. "I would not take it as well as Chaz has."
