Charlie Sheen to appear on 'Celebrity Apprentice'?
Donald Trump says Charlie Sheen's on-air rants are "unbelievable entertainment" and adds that the troubled star is welcome to one day compete in his reality series "The Celebrity Apprentice."
Sheen, 45, had recently given a slew of radio television interviews in which he disses "Two and a Half Men" producers and discusses his self-proclaimed "rock star" lifestyle. The star, who has undergone rehab numerous times, is also currently involved in a custody battle over his twin sons with estranged wife Brooke Mueller.
"His interviews are unbelievable entertainment," Trump recently told OnTheRedCarpet.com and other news outlets. "And that's probably why he does well in the ratings business. And while I'm sure we won't get him on 'Celebrity Apprentice,' we'd love to have him."
Sheen has not responded to Trump's offer. Filming of CBS show "Two and a Half Men," one of the highest-rated comedy programs, was suspended in January after Sheen began treatment for drug and alcohol addiction. Earlier this month, he insulted the show's co-creator, spurring the network to halt production on the rest of the season.
Since then, Sheen has appeared in a series of television interviews, including on ABC's "20/20" program, which videotaped him at his Los Angeles home, where he currently lives with two women, including a porn star. The Tuesday episode nabbed 9.2 million viewers, giving the program its highest ratings in two years. "Piers Morgan Tonight" also scored record ratings with a Monday interview with Sheen.
Sheen also gained more than 1 million Twitter followers since he opened an account on the social networking service on Tuesday.
Sheen has threatened to sue the producers and creators of "Two and a Half Men" for breach of contract. He recently faced another legal hurdle when his estranged wife filed a temporary restraining order against him and had authorities remove his twin sons from his house. Mueller, his third wife, claims he used domestic violence against her in recent days, which he has denied. (Watch a video of Sheen at a press conference following the incident).
The two married in 2008. The actor filed for divorce from Mueller in November. Since then, she has also undergone rehab.
Trump, a real estate mogul, said he has known Sheen and also knows Mueller's parents, who are members of his Mar-a-Lago club in Florida.
"I did say to the parents, 'I don't think this is going to work,'" Trump said, referring to the couple's marriage. "So I was right about that."
The fourth season of "The Celebrity Apprentice" is set to premiere on NBC on Sunday, March 6 at 9 p.m. ET and features stars such as actor Gary Busey, singer Meat Loaf and La Toya Jackson - see photos of the new cast.
On the show, the celebrities will compete against one another, performing business-oriented tasks in a bid to win $250,000, which will go to a charity of their choice. Their work will be judged by Trump and his advisers - his children Ivanka and Donald Trump Jr., as well as Trump Organization employee and "Apprentice" advisor George Ross.
