Channing Tatum is taking a break from acting - but don't worry, it's temporary. Tatum, 32, recently talked about his acting future in an interview with Entertainment Weekly on December 4. The "Magic Mike" actor revealed that while he's going to be taking a break from on-screen roles, it's temporary, and only to focus his behind-the-scenes career. "[Reid and I] have about three to four ideas that we love that are all in the hopper," Tatum told EW. "By the end of next year, we're going to shut things down and write the first thing that we're going to direct. We're going to be like, alright, no more acting parts for a minute, let's take a few and really get caring about that section of our career." The actor, who has played a myriad of characters in the past year including a stripper, a cop and a lovesick husband, went on to explain how he's appreciative for all of the unique roles he's received. "I love the steps that I've taken acting-wise," he continued. "That has been a wild sort of exploration. But I don't want to just keep putting [directing] off for these fun and incredible opportunities." The actor, who was recently dubbed "Sexiest Man Alive" by People magazine, married actress and "Step-Up" co-star Jenna Dewan-Tatum in 2009. The pair appeared alongside each other in the 2006 dance film, which helped launch his movie career. He had previously appeared in films such as "She's The Man," playing a college soccer player who falls for his roommate, played by Amanda Bynes, who is masquerading as a boy, and in a 2004 episode of "CSI: Miami," which marked his first on-screen role. After "Step Up," Tatum went on to star in the film's 2008 sequel, "Step Up 2: The Streets ," as well as in movies such as "Stop-Loss," "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra," "Dear John" and the big-screen adaptation of the 1980s series "21 Jump Street" before nabbing his role as a stripper in "Magic Mike." The movie, which also stars Matthew McConaughey, has made over $201 million since it was released on June 29. The actor is set to appear in "G.I. Joe: Retaliation," "Side Effects," "White House Down" and "Foxcatcher" in the coming year. The actor is also rumored to be taking part in sequels to his hit 2012 films "Magic Mike" and "21 Jump Street."
