'Castle' partners to share first kiss
The long standing romantic tension between 'Castle' characters Detective Kate Beckett and author Richard Castle will come to a head in January when the two will share a kiss during a stakeout, an ABC spokesperson confirmed.
Actors Stana Katic and Nathan Fillion kissed in a scene filmed outside a downtown warehouse late Thursday for a January episode, according to the Associated Press. The kiss occurs during an episode about Beckett's long-frustrated effort to solve her mother's murder. The episode's specific January air date has not been determined, according to ABC.
Fillion plays Castle, a best-selling mystery writer who works as a consultant with the New York Police Department and writes novels based on his experiences. Beckett is the no-nonsense detective assigned to work with him and is also the inspiration of Nikki Heat, the lead character in Castle's novels. Despite initially getting off on the wrong foot, the two have developed a fondness for each other that often edges towards romance.
Laura Prepon of "That '70s Show" is set to guest star on the ABC mystery series Castle as Natalie Gray, an actress who will play fictional heroine Nikki Heat in a film adaptation of protagonist Castle's crime novels.
Prepon, 30, is set to appear in a "Castle" episode in early 2011. Her character, Gray, will travel to New York and shadow Castle and Beckett during a case, which revolves around the murder of a millionaire matchmaker.
