Carrie Underwood's NHL player husband Mike Fisher traded to Nashville Predators
Carrie Underwood and hockey player husband Mike Fisher may not have to maintain a long-distance relationship for much longer as he was recently been traded from the Ottawa Senators to the Nashville Predators.
Underwood, a 27-year-old country star and "American Idol" winner, has a home in the Nashville area. She and Fisher, a 30-year-old native of Canada, married in July 2010.
The two had met at one of her concerts in Ottawa. Fisher proposed to Underwood in December after dating for more than a year. It is unclear if Fisher requested the trade.
Fisher had signed a five-year $21 million contract extension with the Senators after the team reached the Stanley Cup Finals in 2007. His deal now applies to his new position with the Predators. After it expires, he will be allowed to work out a new one with his current team or a new one.
Nashville Predators acquired Fisher in exchange for Nashville's first-round pick in the 2011 Entry Draft and a conditional pick in the 2012 Draft. The team now deems Fisher its new "highest scoring center.".
