Carrie Underwood stars in 'Soul Surfer,' about girl who lost arm in shark attack (Video)
Carrie Underwood is set to make her movie debut with the film "Soul Surfer," based on the true story of 19-year-old champion surfer Bethany Hamilton, who lost her arm in a shark attack in 2003.
Underwood, a Grammy-winning country star and former "American Idol" winner, plays Sarah Hill, a church youth leader.
"Soul Surfer" hits theaters on April 15. The movie stars AnnaSophia Robb, who played Violet Beauregarde in the 2005 movie "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," as Hamilton. Dennis Quaid portrays her father.
Kevin Sorbo, who starred in the series "Hercules: The Legendary Journeys," Helen Hunt, Craig T. Nelson and Jeremy Sumpter, who portrayed the title role in the 2003 movie "Peter Pan" and plays J.D. McCoy on "Friday Night Lights," also appear in "Soul Surfer."
